Louise Dawkins

Hypnotherapist

Louise Dawkins is a registered nurse and has specialised within the field of Sexual Health for the last 15 years. In that time Louise has noticed that a lot of counselling services for specialist sexual health issues are no longer available.

Louise first became interested in Hypnotherapy after receiving sessions herself which totally transformed her life, even leading her to fulfil her dream of running the London Marathon (when previously she says she couldn’t even run for a bus!)

She began to research ways in which she could help people with ongoing sexual difficulties and felt that Hypnosis alongside her previous experience would be a fantastic medium to enable me to do this.

As well as being a Registered Hypnotherapist affiliated with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council she has also specialised in the field of Psychosexual Hypnotherapy. She believes that Hypnotherapy can bring about such rapid and permanent changes to people’s lives, by using a client centred holistic, non-judgemental approach, focussing on the clients future not their past whilst allowing if required previous fears or anxieties to be overcome in a safe, relaxed and calming manner.

Louise uses BWRT® – BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® – which is a new model of psychology and psychopathology that fits comfortably with current thinking on neuroscience. Developed by Terence Watts in 2011 after 35,000 hours of experience working with clients, it is determinedly solution-focused and evidence-based, thus fulfils the requirements of modern therapies.

It’s fast, effective, and long-lasting – usually permanent – and doesn’t require the client to tap, pinch, breathe in a special way, operate an anchor, trigger or any other form of post-therapy device. It just works.

How does it work? The ‘engine’ of BWRT is a naturally occurring brain state, the ‘Freeze’ response, a ‘synthetic’ version of which is induced therapeutically and without trauma. Then we use the primary communication processes of the early brain to reorganise and neutralise the response(s) associated with the presenting symptom.

BWRT uses natural brain processes to get straight to work with the part of the nervous system where all problems originate – and because of this, conscious thought and reasoning aren’t part of the therapy and cannot get in the way. If you think of a nervous symptom like anxiety as being the product of an electrical circuit (it actually is!) then other therapies seek to turn off the switch… but BWRT completely shuts down that part of the generator so it can’t start up again.

In the nine years since it was first taught, BWRT has become the therapy of choice for thousands of practitioners that include psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors and many other psychological health practitioners around the world.

Suze Howell

Integrative Counsellor

Suze Howell is an integrative counsellor based in South Devon. She works with clients remotely across the UK as well as in person in Newton Abbot, Totnes and the surrounding areas.

Suze believes counselling is one of the most valuable investments anyone can make in themselves. It offers space to pause and look beneath the surface, to better understand emotions and patterns, and to discover new ways of caring for yourself and ways to move forward.

Before training as a counsellor, Suze built a career in research, employee engagement and communications. This work gave her a deep understanding of the meaning work holds in people’s lives, how to recognise patterns of behaviour, and strengthened her passion for exploring human relationships – with each other, with work, and with the wider world.

Suze’s counselling approach is warm, real and down-to-earth. She doesn’t believe in quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. Drawing on a range of counselling approaches, including Person-Centred, Gestalt, Existential and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), she adapts her way of working to meet the unique needs of each client.

Working with Suze isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up as you are and being met with care, curiosity and support. She is alongside her clients as they make sense of life and begin to feel more like themselves again. At times this means listening closely and offering space; other times it means gently challenging unhelpful patterns and perspectives. However the process unfolds, clients know they’ll be heard.

Julie Duriez

Reflexologist

Having discovered the power of reflexology when going on my own health journey I embarked on the training to become a Reflexologist myself. I began my VTCT Level 3 training in 2019, soon following it up with Swedish Massage, AromaTouch and more recently Facial Reflexology.

I was a stay at home mum for many years, raising 3 children before spending 7 years with Westcountry Ambulance Service. 5 1/2 of those years were front line as an Emergency Medical Technician, but unfortunately due to a back injury I was forced to take retirement.

My own healing journey began when I discovered holistic therapies, including reflexology, which led to a hunger to know and understand more about how the body works and how it is able to heal itself. Now my passion is to introduce women to the world of holistic therapies and encourage them to take control of their own health and wellbeing.

Reflexology is a light touch treatment that works reflex points (similar to acupuncture/acupressure). By working these reflexes, most commonly on the feet, we encourage the body to increase blood flow, lymphatic drainage and improve nerve communication. This all helps to bring the body back into homeostasis (balance), a place of healing.

Reflexology supports

  • Reduced anxiety
  • Better sleep
  • Hormonal balance and infertility
  • Improved digestive function
  • Reduced pain levels
  • Better stress management

It can support conditions such as CFS, fibromyalgia, migraines, respiratory disorders, IBS, inflammatory disease, autoimmune disorders, endometriosis, muscular and skeletal issues and so much more.

September 2024 saw me begin my training to become an Ayurvedic Clinician. I will be offering health assessments, coaching and treatments to my portfolio once qualified, hopefully from autumn 2025.

Joanne is an experienced Bowen Therapist ( Bowen Technique/ Bowen Fascia Release Therapy) practising since 2014. She takes regular CPD courses to ensure that the newest available information to help her clients is learnt and has a great passion for Bowen and has seen some amazing results.

Your health is your key to living life and happiness!

Bowen is a powerful but relaxing, gentle, non invasive therapy to aid mobility and reduce pain, capable to helping potentially any ailment.

In Bowen Therapy, as well as the muscles, we work on the fascia.  Fascia is an important, highly mobile, connective tissue, which runs throughout your body.  It is via the fascia that we often address levels of tension and discomfort.  I purposefully move the fascia in a particular way to stimulate or relax muscle fibres in order to achieve:-

            *  Improved posture and flexibility
            *  Pain relief
            *  Improved mobility
Clients also tell me that they feel less stressed.

Some of the most common issues that have had great results are, Frozen Shoulder,  Tennis Elbow,  Sciatica,  Joint aches or lack of movement, Muscular aches, Digestive issues (i.e. IBS, Diverticulitis), Breathing complaints (i.e. asthma, COPD),  Headaches and Migraines, feeling out of balance (i.e. shoulder on one side high, you have developed a limp), back ache, to name but a few.

Under the umbrella of ‘Bowen’,  I also offer A.M.T. (Applied Myoskeletal Therapy), again very gentle but quick and efficient in balancing the muscles and in so doing will make your skeleton operate in symmetry, another invaluable source for helping with movement and pain control.  Also very effective with tight, tense muscles anywhere in the body and pain that can’t be explained.

Lymphatic Drainage in Bowen, is a gentle and powerful tool to help rid your body of unwanted toxins and to make you feel light, help rid the body of re-occurring complaints that persist (the body may be in fight or flight mode), helps aid digestion including constipation/ breathing/ bloating/ regular headaches or sinus issues/ swelling in the hands or feet or around the eyes/ skin complaints like psoriasis, eczema/ fatigue/ stiffness/ increased cold and flu/ swollen glands/ cold hands and feet/ soreness upon waking.

Clients love this treatment and feel lighter in themselves immediately and able to cope.
For more details on any of the above, please do get in touch with Joanne and I will be happy to advise you. I will be working from The Mulberry Rooms, Abbotskerswell on Thursdays from November 2024

All treatments are between 45 minutes to 1 hour long and are  £50.00

Please phone/Text Joanne on Tel. 07954 165 282 to book an appointment or enquire (Don’t wait! You could feel much better in no time rather than let nature take its course)

Mark Bessell

Hypnotherapist

I have had an interest in anything mind related for many years, reading anything I could to learn increasingly about this complex subject. From this research, I learnt a little about hypnotherapy and the good that it can do. This interest pushed me into applying for one of the most comprehensive Hypnotherapy diploma courses in the UK, at The Devon School of Hypnotherapy.

To be honest, a few years prior to gaining this interest in the mind and hypnotherapy, I laughed at the thought of hypnosis and just thought of it as, well, silly entertainment. I can now see why it is important to get the facts about a subject before waving it away or ridiculing it. Learning, studying, practicing and qualifying as a registered hypnotherapist has opened me up to a new way of thinking.

I continue to learn and study. I feel no reason to stop improving, especially when it helps the wellbeing of others. There is simply always more to learn and ways to improve. Luckily, my interest in the mind and hypnotherapy makes learning a pleasure.

As a Client-Centred Hypnotherapist, my aim will be to focus on your own needs, goals and requirements. As everyone is different, sessions will be tailored to you.

By using this humanistic approach, you will be able to come to your own conclusions, without the personal views, ideas and beliefs of the hypnotherapist. This will allow all positive changes to suit your own personality and morals, leading to longer-lasting results. Your subconscious has the answers so allow me to guide you in finding them.

The subconscious mind is more powerful than most people would give it credit for. It can, amongst other things, control our fears, moods, habits, feelings, behaviours, thoughts, stress, and anxieties. Although our subconscious mind is doing its best to keep us safe and well, it can, when not aligned, sometimes cause inner conflict.

Most therapies talk to the conscious mind. Hypnotherapy, however, talks to the subconscious mind.

Here are just a few examples of what hypnotherapy could help with:

  • Relaxation
  • Social Anxiety Disorder
  • Phobias
  • Unhealthy habits
  • Stress
  • Inner turmoil
  • Weight loss
  • Sports performance
  • PTSD
  • Trauma
  • Sleep issues
  • Confidence
  • OCD
  • Behavioural & Emotional issues
  • Pain relief

Combining hypnotherapy with other therapies/techniques can also be a powerful addition to your sessions at MMB Hypnotherapy. There are many techniques that could be used during a hypnotherapy session. Which of these is used depends on the client, the client’s needs and the issue itself. Parts Therapy, CBT/CBH and regression are examples of these possible combined techniques.

To assure you are in safe, confident, and reliable hands, I am registered with GHSC, GHR and CNHC.

Please see Mmbhypnotherapy.co.uk for booking details and more information on any of the above.
